Tug-Of-War Board Game ยท Effective & last updated: September 24, 2026

Short version: local, offline play never leaves your device. Online play sends only the nickname you type and your moves in that match โ€” never your name, email, or location. Chip purchases go straight through Apple or Google, and we never see your payment details. There are no ads and no trackers in this app today.

The long version, section by section, is below.

01 โ€” Who this covers

About this policy

This policy covers the Tug-Of-War card game โ€” the website and, when published, the iOS and Android apps built from the same code. It explains what information the game handles, why, and what choices you have. It does not cover any other site you reach by following a link away from the game.

02 โ€” On your device

Playing offline

Two-player and four-player games against the computer, Chaos Mode, and the tutorial all run entirely on your device. Nothing about how you play offline is sent anywhere. The game does keep a few small things in your device's local storage, purely so the app remembers your setup between visits:

This data lives only in your browser or app installation. Clearing your browser data, or uninstalling the app, deletes it. We never see it.

03 โ€” Online play

Creating, joining, or matching into a game

Online multiplayer โ€” Create Game, Join Game, and Quick Match โ€” needs a server to keep both players' boards in sync. When you start or join an online game, we store:

Each game is identified by a randomly generated code and a random access token โ€” not by you personally. No account, sign-in, email, or real name is required to play online today.

Where this lives: game data is stored with Supabase, our database and backend provider, hosted in the United States. It's used only to run the match you're part of โ€” never sold, and never shared with advertisers.

04 โ€” Accounts, later

Sign-in is not live yet

A future update is expected to add optional sign-in (for cross-device stats and ranked play), likely via email, Apple, or Google. That system exists in the database today but collects nothing yet โ€” no sign-in flow is reachable in the app. This policy will be updated, with a new effective date above, before that feature ships. Buying Chips doesn't require sign-in โ€” see the next section.

05 โ€” Purchases

Buying Chips

Chip purchases happen entirely inside Apple's App Store or Google Play's in-app purchase system. We never see, receive, or store your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail โ€” Apple and Google handle all of that under their own privacy policies.

When a purchase completes, the app receives a receipt from Apple or Google, and our server checks that the receipt is genuine before crediting your device with Chips. That check โ€” which Chip bundle was bought, and that the receipt is valid โ€” is the only purchase-related information our server sees; never your payment method or billing information.

06 โ€” What we don't do

No ads, no trackers, no selling data

โœ•

No advertising network is integrated. The Store's "watch an ad for a bonus" button currently simulates the reward โ€” no real ad is shown, and no ad company ever sees you.

โœ•

No location tracking, contacts access, camera, or microphone use.

โœ•

We never sell or rent personal information to anyone, for any reason.

โœ“

The website uses Vercel Web Analytics โ€” a cookie-free service that reports how many people visited, in aggregate. It can't identify you individually.

07 โ€” Who else sees data

Service providers

ProviderWhat forWhat they get
SupabaseStores online-game state and syncs moves between playersNickname, outfit, and moves for games you play online
VercelHosts the website and its anonymous visit-count analyticsStandard web-server logs; aggregate page views
Apple / GoogleProcesses Chip purchases through their in-app purchase systemsYour payment details directly (never passed to us); we receive only a purchase receipt to verify and credit Chips

Neither is authorized to use this data for their own advertising, and neither receives it from the offline/local game modes at all.

08 โ€” Keeping it tidy

How long data sticks around

An online game's data is kept only as long as useful for that match. A Quick Match queue entry that never matches anyone is disregarded after a couple of minutes. We periodically remove old finished games. Nothing from online play is kept indefinitely or built into a long-term profile of you.

09 โ€” Age

Rated 12+

Tug-Of-War carries a 12+ age rating. We don't knowingly collect more from a younger player than from anyone else โ€” a freely chosen nickname and in-match moves, nothing identifying. If you believe a child has shared personal information beyond that through the game, contact us below and we'll remove it.

10 โ€” Your choices

Staying anonymous

Play fully offline and nothing ever leaves your device. Playing online, pick any nickname โ€” it's never checked against your identity. You can also just close the tab or delete the app; there's no account to "cancel."

11 โ€” Changes

If this policy changes

We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever something material changes โ€” most likely when sign-in accounts go live. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the app itself.
