Terms of Service

Tug-Of-War Board Game ยท Effective: September 24, 2026

By playing Tug-Of-War, you agree to the terms below. Read Section 13 carefully โ€” it affects how disputes get resolved.

01

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Tug of War Board Game LLC ("Game," "we," "us"). They apply to the website, and to the iOS and Android apps once published, all built from the same game. By opening the app, loading the website, or tapping past this notice, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Game.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information the Game collects and is part of these Terms by reference.

02

What Tug-Of-War is

Tug-Of-War is a cowboy-themed card game. You can play entirely offline against the computer, in 2-player or 4-player Chaos Mode โ€” nothing about offline play touches our servers. You can also play online against other people, by sharing a room code, joining one, or getting auto-paired through Quick Match.

The Game is free to download and free to play. The General Store sells Chips โ€” the Game's virtual currency โ€” which you can earn for free through play or buy with real money, and spend on cosmetic outfits, table felts, card backs, sounds, and taunts. See Section 6 (Virtual items & currency) and Section 7 (Purchases) below for how that works.

03

Age & eligibility

Tug-Of-War carries a 12+ age rating. If you're under the age required by your app store or by law to agree to terms like these on your own, a parent or guardian needs to agree on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Game.

04

Play sessions & accounts

Online play today doesn't require creating an account. You pick a nickname for each game, and the Game issues your device a private access token for that game โ€” that's what keeps your seat yours if you reload the page. There's no password, no persistent profile, and no way to "log in" as the same identity across separate games.

A future update may add optional sign-in, for cross-device stats and purchases. When that ships, this section will be replaced with real account terms โ€” creation, security responsibilities, and closure โ€” before it goes live.

05

Playing fair

Simple version: don't ruin it for other people. Specifically, you agree not to:

We can end a game session or block further access for anyone who breaks these rules โ€” see Termination below.

06

Virtual items & currency

Chips are the Game's virtual currency. You can earn Chips for free through play (daily rewards, watching an ad, and similar in-game actions) or buy them in fixed bundles with real money through the General Store. Chips are spent on cosmetic items โ€” outfits, table felts, card backs, sounds, and taunts โ€” that change how your side of the board looks and sounds. None of it affects the cards you're dealt or the outcome of a game.

Chips and every item you unlock with them:

07

Purchases

Chip bundles are purchased in-app through Apple's App Store or Google Play's in-app purchase system, at the price shown at checkout in your local currency. Every purchase is billed and processed entirely by Apple or Google under their own payment terms โ€” we never see, handle, or store your card or payment details.

Purchases are final. Because a Chip bundle is digital content that's credited to your device the moment the purchase completes, we don't process refunds ourselves. Refund requests go through Apple's or Google's own refund process, and are granted or denied at their discretion under their policies, not ours โ€” see Apple's or Google's refund pages to start a request.

Prices can change at any time and can vary by region; a price change never affects a purchase you've already made. If you're paying for a Chip bundle on behalf of a minor, or a minor is using your device, use your platform's parental controls (Apple's Ask to Buy, Google's purchase approvals) to require your approval before any purchase completes.

08

Who owns what

The Game's code, art, characters, music, and design are owned by us (or licensed to us) and protected by copyright and other laws. Using the Game gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to play it โ€” not a license to copy, redistribute, publicly perform, modify, or create derivative works from any part of it, except where the Game itself invites that (for example, sharing a room code with a friend).

09

Services we rely on

The Game's online features run on third-party infrastructure โ€” currently Supabase for the game backend and database, and Vercel for website hosting. Your device also talks directly to Apple's or Google's platforms to install and run the app. Our Privacy Policy covers what each of these sees.

10

Ending access

You can stop playing at any time โ€” there's no account to delete today, since none is required. We can suspend or end your access to online features (a specific game, or more broadly) if you violate Section 5, if we discontinue online play, or if we shut the Game down entirely. Offline play against the computer doesn't depend on any of this and keeps working as long as the app is installed.

11

No warranty

The Game is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time โ€” online features in particular depend on third-party infrastructure we don't control. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

12

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Game โ€” including lost data, lost virtual items, or lost enjoyment of your afternoon. Where liability can't be excluded entirely, it's limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you spent on Chip purchases in the 12 months before the claim.

13

Arbitration agreement & class action waiver

Please read this section carefully โ€” it affects your legal rights.

Informal resolution first

Before filing any claim, contact us at hello@tugofwargame.com and describe the issue. We'll try to resolve it directly. Most disagreements about a card game can probably end there.

Binding arbitration

If informal resolution doesn't work, you and we agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Game will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, rather than in court โ€” except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court instead, if it qualifies.

Class action waiver

You and we agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator can't combine more than one person's claims into a single proceeding.

Your right to opt out

You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing hello@tugofwargame.com with your name and a clear statement that you're opting out, within 30 days of the date you first agreed to these Terms. Opting out doesn't affect any other part of these Terms, or your ability to keep playing.

14

Governing law & venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. For anything not subject to the arbitration agreement above, the state and federal courts located in Minnesota have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to their venue.

15

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Game changes โ€” most likely around accounts, purchases, or tournament features. We'll update the effective date above when we do, and note meaningful changes in the app itself. Continuing to play after an update means you accept the new Terms.
